David L. Hendricks

Dave Lee Hendricks, 59, Gardner, Kan., passed away July 20, 2014 at his home.

Dave was born Oct. 22, 1954 in Olathe, Kan. to Louie and Mary (Hudson) Hendricks. He grew up in Gardner and earned his GED. Dave was a hard worker and owned Dave’s Mobile Service, retiring in 2004.

He had a great sense of humor and with a big smile; he always had a “story” to tell. Dave loved life, enjoying everything. He was a spiritual person who loved God and loved his family with everything in him. He fought hard battling his disease since 2005. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Mary Hudson Hendricks, daughter Katina Lee, and two sisters.

Dave is survived by Mary Pat Rima; his children: Chris & Annika Hendricks, of Gardner, Charla Beth and Darell Troutman, of Paola, Kan., Bobbye and Alan Hicks, of Amoret, Mo., Billie Jo and Jimmy Daniels, of Ottawa, Kan., Aaron Hendricks, of Paola; step-children Ejay and Shiela Schiller, of Gardner, Michael and Sara Schiller, of Olathe, Kan., Jeanetta Schiller, of Overland Park, Kan. and Johnny and Melinda Watkins, of Spring Hill, Kan.; siblings, Gary and Clare Hendricks, of Gardner, Louie and Marynell Hendricks, of Overland Park, Steve and Jeanette Hendricks, of Edgerton, Kan., Mary and Skip Herbert, of Gardner and Marita and Richard Martinez, of Wellsville, Kan.; 15 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Max.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., July 30, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Gardner, 324 E. Shawnee, Gardner, KS 66030. Inurnment follows at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation begins at 12 p.m., prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Dave’s mother.
