David “Dave” Edward Hill, 85, of Wheatland, Mo, passed away July 4, 2017.
Dave was born April 29, 1932 in Jackson County, Mo to Stephen Robb and Hulda Marie (Steffens) Hill. He grew up in Kansas City, Kan. Dave graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1950 and then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas on an athletic scholarship, and then Kansas State University, where he majored in Engineering and Architecture. He served for the United States Marines from 1953-1955. Dave married Carol J. Steil on December 6, 1958 in Princeton, Mo. He owned and operated several plastics manufacturing companies in and around Gardner for over 57 years, the most prominent being Allied Molding. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gardner, served on the Gardner City Council and coached girls softball for several years. Dave was a very active businessman but in his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be missed by family and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; wife and siblings: Steve Hill, Irene (Hill) Clark and Victor Hill. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Lea Hill of Wheatland, Mo; granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Hill and brother, Harold W. Hill of Mercer Island, Wash.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kan 66030 913-856-7111. Burial following at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Kan.
