Gardner Edgerton High School senior Riley Craig made the most of his final KU Relays competition placing second in the javelin with a career best throw of 176-feet, 5- inches leading the Blazers effort April 19-20.
Matt Mayeske continued to excel with a fifth place 110 meter hurdle time of 15.21. Fellow senior Ben Carpenter cleared 13-feet, 11-inches in the pole vault for 10th place. Jaylon Radel raced to15th place in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.27.
The 400 relay of Dakota Steuber, Marcon Waters, Jaylon Radel and Traevohn Wrench teamed up to place fourth in a season best time of 43.8. The 1600 relay team of Steuber,Waters, Dalton Shump and Tanner Hughes finished 5th in a time of 3:33.7.
“I was real pleased with the kids effort,”said Coach Brian McGee. “We had some personal and career best and look ready for our annual Invitational.”
The seven-team Blazer Invitational unfolds April 26 with the field events at 3:30 pm. The prelims for running events get going at 4 pm.
