Courtney Marie Ross

Courtney Marie Ross
Courtney Marie Ross, 38, Gardner, passed away on May 13, 2014. Cremation.
Courtney was born in Girard, Kansas on June 30, 1975 to Earl Ray Harris and Sharon Marie (Davied) Harris. She grew up in Girard where she graduated from Girard High School in 1993. Courtney graduated from Fort Scott Community College School of Cosmetology in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Courtney and Damon were married on July 21, 2000 in Miami, Oklahoma and shared 13 wonderful years of marriage together, most of which were spent in the Gardner/Edgerton area. During this time, she received her AA in 2009 Brown Mackie School of Nursing in Lenexa, Kansas. At a later time in her career, Courtney simultaneously held an active CDL, Cosmetology License, and active RN Licenses in Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado. She continued her career as an RN at Meadowbrook Rehab Hospital until she became permanently disabled in March 2013.
Courtney was a sweet, kind, and fun-loving woman who loved spending time with her husband and children as well as doing many activities around the home, including gardening, arts and crafts projects, and word puzzles. She always enjoyed sharing laughs with others and always had a way to brighten up someone else’s day. Others enjoyed her company and welcomed her into their hearts and homes just as she did for so many others, especially at times when they seemed to need it the most. She was the heart and soul of her family, and memories of her bright smiles and joyous laughs will be remembered most by those whose lives were touched by her.
She is survived by her husband, Damon Ross, and children: Dillon McElwain, Samantha (Ally) McElwain, and Jannelle (Nelly) McElwain, all of Gardner; her parents, Earl and Sharon Harris, Girard; brothers, Christopher Harris, Ketchum, Oklahoma, and Chad Harris, Frontenac, Kansas; grandmother, Pauline “Pat” Davied, Pittsburg, Kansas, and many more family members and close friends, who always held a special place in her heart. She will be dearly missed.
Memorial Service will be 7:30 p.m., May 20, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, (913)856-7111. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.
