County commissioners continue discussion for Edgerton asphalt plant

Members of the Johnson County Board of Commissioners continued for 30 days a request for a conditional use permit to construct a portable asphalt and concrete plant within the confines of the rock quarry in Edgerton.

A motion by commissioner Ed Peterson to approve the conditional use permit failed due to lack of a second. A motion by commissioner Jim Allen to deny the permit failed with five commissioners voting against denying the permit.

The commission members agreed to continue the discussion about the permit for 30 days. They will take up the issue again at the Sept. 25 commission meeting.
