In this meeting Press says the information about the 4 employees receiving raises is an open record. I sent off an Open Records request to him for this information. I will let ALL know what he has to say, however, I bet he will deny my request.

I will also have to look into how to find out what Press's retirement benefit is under KPERs. Must be public record since the article I referred citizens to got the information.

How much is your social security check a month Judith? I'm paying for that with my taxes. And didn't you used to work for the County? How much did you make when you left there and how much is your retirement from them? Also tax money.

I would also mention that I am very disappointed with Council members who evidently don't think the citizens should know about salaries, costs of benefits for these employees, etc. and don't want to discuss issues of this kind in an open meeting. The people have the right to know what they are paying for and they are paying plenty as evidenced by the article shown at http://fox4kc.com/2012/02/20/group-predicts-huge-pensions-will-cause-kansas-catastrophe. I am sick and tired of my government entities working in the back rooms and especially I am sick and tired of politicians and bureaucrats enabling and supporting that type of government. If you work for a government entity, your salary is there for all to see because the taxpayers are paying the costs and have the right to know - many may not like it but whether they like it or not, doesn't have a thing to do with it.

I just love the sell job Burns/McDonnell with the help of bureaucrats like Press.boils down to giving the dollars to the special interests such as BNSF, Allen Group and the city of Edgerton..........and the jaybird says these numbers are "projections", not fact, "projections", and "these numbers are not in stone"...........this from a company that wants to charge the citizens $50 per hour for clerical employee salaries............then we get the bit of "join with the city of Edgerton", yeah, spread those costs so the big boys get what they want.........weren't the Gardner citizens supposed to be "protected"........and then "the sooner you make a decision, the better"......got to have that decision by the first of March, rush, rush, rush.........certainly heard that one before.........then the guy says this is a "risk" and oh, how well we know the worthless politicians, developers, and the bureaucrats will place the people at "risk" to take care of the takers and it is they who should be taking the "risks" and not the citizens............well, let's wait to see if the development comes when the "risk" is less..........the County doesn't want to be involved because it doesn't meet their standards............why in the Sam Hill would the city of Gardner be looking at this if Burns/McDonnell deal of helping out Edgerton when the costs/development are not in stone.....the City Staff once again do not provide the information in order for an intelligent decision being made............they project growth and yet I will bet you that these developers will not want to pay their full taxes, the politicians will allow this and you know who will get hit.........wouldn't you normally be getting professional opinions/information from more entities than just Burns/McDonnell who is getting paid handsomely..........then when they start talking about how much all of this will cost, they say, well, you need to just look what the payment would be - like working with car salesmen right in your City Hall and any way you look at it the costs are astronomical and who will be responsible for paying those costs and are they affordable?...............they say they have interests in this area but no one knows anything, yeah, right, all of these major costs being looked at but no basis for them.....so to end this presentation as usual a task force is appointed which will end up being a farce and another rigged process........then at the end of the meeting once again citizens are shown they do not have a transparent government and there are certain things they only want to discuss in the back room such as employee salaries and raises..............citizens' biggest fears should be in the cronyism government that continues and it should be very apparent to anyone with eyes and ears who supports and enables that type of government.
