Trent Cochran’s second place 5k finish highlighted the Blazers effort at the 6A state cross country meet in Lawrence last weekend.
Cochran, a sophomore, clocked 16:31 and is now recognized as the best state finish by a GEHS cross country runner. His time erased the record time of 16:33 set by Aaron Ballew in 2003.
Carson Hughes also turned in a top performance placing 41st in a field of 100 runners with a personal best 5k time of 17:32.
