City staff recently approved a building permit for a QuikTrip store in Gardner.
Planning commissioners approved a site plan for the new convenience store to be located between Casey’s General Store and the Price Chopper development on east Main Street a few months ago.
The issuance of a construction permit means building is likely set to begin soon, city planner Amy Kynard said.
“Their permit was approved on Feb. 15 so I think they’re probably just waiting for the weather to get a little better to start construction,” Kynard said.
Obtaining a building permit requires the payment of development fees, Kynard said. That means construction is likely imminent.
“They’ve paid a lot of money already, because all the fees are due when they pick up the building permit,” she said. “I’m confident they’ll begin construction as soon as they can, probably within the next few months.”
