Charles Alva Paul

Charles Alva Paul, 78, of Gardner, passed away Dec. 3, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Dec. 10, 2013 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Private inurnment will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Overland Park, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charles Paul Memorial Fund. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.

Charles was born April 12, 1935 in Eskridge, Kan. to Horace J. and Pearl C. (Massey) Paul. He grew up in the Eskridge area and graduated from Eskridge High School in 1953.

Charles married Carol Joyce Hoover Sept. 3, 1961 in Ottawa, Kan.

He served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a long distance truck driver for ACT of Liberty, Mo., retiring in 2005. After his retirement he enjoyed working as a setup specialist at Walmart.

Charles was a life-long Eskridge Masonic Lodge #205. He dearly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, two infant children, son, Jeff and brother, Horace Paul Jr.

Charles is survived by his mother, Pearl Paul, of Topeka, Kan.; sons, Russell and Charles A. Paul, Jr., both of Gardner; siblings, Donna (Tom) Lyman, of McPherson, Kan., Carolyn Zerbe, of Eskridge, Kan., Eldana (Phil) Travis, of Ft. Dodge, Kan., Benita Peoples, of Eskridge, Kan. and Liz (Tom) Benortham, of Topeka, Kan. and two grandchildren, Horace and Casey.
