Steve Devore, president of the local Chamber of Commerce, will resign from his post effective March 28.

Devore served as chamber president for five years.

“…My tenure with the Chamber of Commerce has been nothing short of pure excitement, enjoyment, growth and adventure,” Devore said in an email to members dated March 13.

Alyssa Petrik, a current board member and chamber ambassador, will assume administrative responsibilities for the Chamber of Commerce for Southwest Johnson County, formerly known as the Gardner Area Chamber of Commerce.

“…When I accepted this position, my personal expectations were to understand and support what made this business environment prosper,” Devore wrote. “However, what I did not expect was the privilege of getting to know so many personally.”

Devore said he has accepted a job as a sales representative with Pella Windows and Doors Corporation.

Through the transition, the chamber will have posted, but limited office hours.
