Carpenter’s 19 points not enough to win

Taylor Carpenter scored 19 points but it wasn’t enough as the Pioneer Ridge Middle School eighth grade varsity girls basketball team dropped a 28-27 to Louisburg in the home regular season finale, Dec. 5.
Pioneer, 3-10, held an 8-3 first quarter lead and went up 17-7 at halftime. Back came Louisburg with 15, third quarter points and tied the game late in the fourth quarter.
A last second shot by PRMS would not fall, and Lousburg escaped with a one-point win.
Besides Carpenter, Hannah Hawkins added five points and Mykah Andregg added three.
Taylor had seven rebounds and Jayme Morris had six. Carpenter collected six steals.
“Both teams played hard,” said coach Jeff Davidson. “If we continue to play with the same intensity we will win some games in our post season tournament.”
The post season tourney begins Dec. 12.
