Broncos place third at BFM baseball classic

Using solid pitching and defense, the Broncos varsity baseball team brought back a third place finish from the Butch Foster Memorial Classic in Kansas City last week.
In the opener, Spring Hill defeated Basehor 11-2 but dropped a hard fought 11-10 decision to St. James in the semi-final winners bracket.
Spring Hill bounced back behind the combined perfect game pitching performances of Zach Girrens and Conner Gilihan. Girrens pitched the first four innings and Gilihan one inning as Spring Hill blanked Holton 11-0 in the third place game.  Girrens faced 12 batters with 12 strikeouts.  Gilihan faced 3 batters with two strikeouts.
Earlier in the week, Spring Hill defeated Osawatomie in a doubleheader by scores of 9-3 and 14-0.
