USD 231 mill levy to be slightly lower
School patrons will pay a slightly lower tax rate than USD 231 board of education members anticipated when they passed a budget last August. Initially, officials estimated patrons would pay a rate of 82.595 mills. However, the Johnson County Department of Records and Tax Administration announced the district budget will be fully funded with a mill levy rate of 82.406, or for .189 less mills.
For the owner of a $150,000 home in the GE District the 82.406 mill rate translates into a $1,375 annual tax bill, or $3.26 less than school officials anticipated when they passed the budget.
