Three Gardner-Edgerton School District students will perform in the Kansas John Philip Sousa Honor Band this January. They include Tommy Fabing, a Wheatridge Middle School percussionist; Patrick Moll, a Pioneer Ridge Middle School clarinet player; and Sam Stanathan, a trumpet player at Gardner Edgerton High School.
The students auditioned and were selected from more than 650 student musicians. The honor band will practice and perform at the University of Kansas this month.
John Philip Sousa was an American composer and conductor, known primarily for patriotic marches. He lead the U.S. Marine Corps band and wrote the “Semper Fidelis,” the official march of the U.S. Marines, and “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
