Brandon Clark Whitaker, 40, of De Soto, KS, passed away December 29, 2012 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.  Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2013 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS 913-856-7111.  Inurnment at a later date.  Memorial Contributions may be given to Boy Scout Troop #83, Olathe, KS.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
 
Brandon was born December 24, 1972 in Little Rock, AR to Teresa Marie (Morrison) and William Van Whitaker.  His family moved to Overland Park, KS in 1979, where he attended Shawnee Mission West and earned his GED.  Brandon worked for KCP&L, in KCMO, and most recently in Raytown, MO for ten years.  He served in the Army Reserves.  In 1991 Brandon met his future wife, Michelle Kay Kearney.  The couple wed on May 8, 2005 in Overland Park.  As a child, Brandon and his father were  very involved with Boy Scouts; a tradition he continued with his son. 
 

He was preceded in death by his father, William Whitaker.  Brandon is survived by his wife Michelle, of the home; mother Teresa Malaun and step-father Daniel of Overland Park, KS; daughter Jordan Lenore Whitaker and son Patrick Donovan Whitaker of the home; sister Heather Noelle and husband Jesse Hardman of Overland Park; aunts Tammy and husband Byron Taylor of Carrollton, TX, Vanessa and husband Mike Furgerson, of Kemp, TX; uncles Courtney and wife Lynne Whitaker of Evansville, IN and Bart Morrison of Mesquite, TX.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
