Bowen sets street vault record

A record pole vault of 17’6” by former Gardner Edgerton High School student Casey Bowen highlighted the 4th Annual street vault Aug. 10 in the north parking lot of Gardner Elementary.
Finishing second in the Elite mile competition was Nick Meyer, a 2013 Bishop Carroll Wichita product, with a 16’6” vault.
Brittany Kallenburger, a Central Missouri sophomore, won the women’s competition with a 12’ clearance height.
Other former and current GEHS students participating and height cleared included: Ben Carpenter, a 2013 GEHS grad; Kyle Stubler, a GEHS junior; Davis Tropansky, a GEHS sophomore; Jazz Davis- GEHS freshman; Abby Buie, GEHS sophomore; Trenton Bilhimer, Wheatridge Middle School seventh grader;  Sydney Wetherington, Pioneer Ridge Middle School seventh grader;  Tom Fabing, WMS eighth grader;  Erin Fabing, WMS eighth grader; Morgan Mcintire,  PRMS sixth grader; and Kendra Wait, a PRMS fifth grader.
Brayden Sherwood,  Madison Elementary first grader and Reygan Stubler,  WMS fifth grader,  participated in the youth bungee cord competition.
A record total of 52 participants, ranging in age 5 to 60 participated. Several participants set PR’s. Jerry Stricker of Stricker auction service once again provided lighting for the event.
