The honors just keep coming in for Gardner Edgerton High School freshman football player Garrett Borth.
Last week Borth earned an All American invitation to play in the Diamond Sports/ Maxx All-American game in Myrtle Beach, S. C. the week of Dec. 31 through Jan. 3.
Borth will play defensive end/middle linebacker for the squad. He was selected for the team by a scout at the Football University Top Gun Showcase camp in Dublin, Ohio.
Borth was picked from some 8,000 kids nationwide. During that week, Borth will also be evaluated by scouts in a combine. He also remains in the running for the East Bay All-American team sponsored by East Bay athletics. Selections will be announced in mid September.
For now, Borth will focus his attention on his freshman season at GEHS and continue workouts at the Simoneau Sports Academy in Overland Park.
“Playing football year round is fine with me,” said Borth.
Garrett is the son of Wally and Dawn Borth, of Gardner.
