Members of the Johnson County Board of Commissioners approved the appointment of Jason Osterhaus as vice chair during a meeting Jan. 17.
Osterhaus will assume the duties of chairman whenever Chairman Ed Eilert is unavailable.
The quick Jan. 17 commission meeting was the first meeting for Sixth District Commissioner John Toplikar, who represents Gardner and Edgerton; and Third District Commissioner Steve Klika, who represents Spring Hill and parts of Overland Park. The pair was sworn into office on Jan. 14. They replace Calvin Hayden and David Lindstrom.
“Being elected vice chairman by your peers is an honor and I’m excited about the opportunity to serve in the role as needed in the year ahead,” Osterhaus told the board. “I will do so with the best interest of the public and county at heart.”
Osterhaus represents part of Overland Park. He was first elected to the commission in 2010.
