Board releases official statement on firing of administrators

Danedri Thompson

The Gardner Edgerton School Board released its official statement on the terminations of former administrators Bill Gilhaus, Lana Gerber and Christy Ziegler.

Board members voted to release a statement about the terminations during a March 10 board meeting. However, members refused to speak to media following that meeting, saying an official statement would soon be released.

The official statement reads: “On Feb. 27, the Gardner-Edgerton Board of Education, by a 4-3 vote, determined that it was in the best interest of the district to terminate the employment of administrators Bill Gilhaus, Lana Gerber and Christina Ziegler.  Statements of individual board members regarding the reasons for these terminations are not, and should not, be taken as the official position of the Gardner-Edgerton School District.”

In checking Jo. Co. District Court records just now, I cannot see where Gilhaus, Ziegler or Gerber have filed any lawsuits yet. It will all come out in the wash and I expect the wash to be quite dirty before this issue has been laid to rest but my experience with the politicians and bureaucrats shows me that the people/citizens very seldom, if ever, get the complete truth and what truth THEY do get, THEY have to dig deep to get it.

If lawsuits are filed, I believe it will be one time when I am going to try to be present in district court to hear and see the court proceedings in person so I can get that truth that I so cherish but it will still be myself trying to determine what truth, if any, is being provided. It will really be difficult for me considering my physical limitations but perhaps I can think of a way to get my pain ridden body there. If bad weather occurs during the court proceedings, I will probably never make it so I guess I better be praying for good weather if those court proceedings ever do occur.

    Lots of dirty laundry….

Time to air it out… =)
