Police and firefighters responded to a blaze near U.S. 56 Highway and Four Corners Road in Edgerton at
approximately 4:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
According to a contractor on the intermodal project, the source of thick, black smoke that blanketed a pocket of the highway was a BNSF truck.
The location complicated the response of law enforcement as the blaze on the opposite side of the railroad tracks. A westbound train passed through the intersection as law enforcement and fire response arrived.
