Blazers run well at Mill Valley Cat Classic

Setting several personal best, the Blazer cross country teams turned in top performances at the Mill Valley Cat Classic on Oct. 4  in Shawnee Mission Park.
Teamwise, the boys claimed 7th place and the Lady Blazers were ninth in a very competitive field.
“Overall, we ran pretty well,” said coach Larry Ward.  Several of the kids set personal best and we showed improvement. That is important as we head to league and regionals.”
On the boys side, Dewey Molenda led the way with an 11th place 5K time of 16:46.  Arron Scott finished 18th in 17:00 and Omar Quintana was 29th in 17:18.  Justin Wilde was 32nd in 17:24 and Chris Kreiser was 49th in 18:04. Tim Visos-Ely was 50th in 18:o4 and Tim Ward , 56TH, in 18:34.
For the girls,  McKenzie Scroggin finished 22nd in a 4K time of 16:30 and Katie Groshong was 28th in 16:38.  Miranda Tenove took  33rd in 16:46 and Sierra Coen was 34th in 16:38.  Aly Daniels finished  51rst in 17:21 and Kenna Douglass was 64th in 18:08.  Lindsay Plank took 69th in 18:25.
Next comes the EKL league meet, Oct . 11 at Lone Elm Park in Olathe. The C team race starts at 3 p.m.
