Blazers return to court, wrestling mats

Following a brief holiday break, the Gardner Edgerton boys and girls’ basketball teams and the wrestling squad resume action this week.
In the wresting arena, Coach Matt Yeamans squad concluded 2012 with an impressive fourth place team finish at the Johnson County classic Dec 14-15 at Blue Valley. Jacob Bonham, Dustin Williams, Emilio Fowler and Seth Pesek won individual titles to lead the way.  The team host Lansing Jan. 3.
In boys’ basketball, Coach Jeff Langrehr has his team at 2-2 record with wins against Olathe North and Bishop Miege. In the 49-42 loss at Blue Valley Southwest Dec 14, senior Kyle Huppe had 17 points and Ben Carpenter added 10 points. The team takes to the courts Jan 3 against Blue Valley West.
In girls’ basketball, Coach Scott Schaefer is busy preparing his team for a Jan 3 match against Blue Valley west. Before the break, GEHS lost a hard fought 48-43 decision at Blue Valley Southwest despite 22 points from senior Danie Plank.
