Blazers net 2nd place in home invitational

Playing its best tennis of the season, the Gardner Edgerton High School girls varsity squad placed second in its annual home invitational, Sept. 12.
GEHS finished second – just five points shy of team champion Shawnee Mission East. Blue Valley Southwest took third, followed by Shawnee Mission Northwest, Lawrence Free State, Mill Valley, Spring Hill, and GEHS junior varsity.
Leading the way was Samantha Aleman who posted first place in singles play with a perfect 4-0 record.
In number two singles, Amanda Wilson recorded a 1-2 mark.
The number one doubles of Logan Meyer and Krista Long took second place with a 3-1 record.
The number two doubles of Madisen Edstrom and Calley Brey took second place with a 3-1 record.
