The season recently came to a close for coach Jeff Langrehr and his Gardner-Edgerton High School boys varsity basketball squad.
The Blazers finished at 12-9 (8-6 in the East Kansas League). The 8-6 record earned third in league behind Blue Valley Northwest and Blue Valley North.
“Playing one of the state’s toughest schedules with little size on our team the kids responded well,” Langrehr said. “I am very proud of our second consecutive third place finish in the tough EKL. I would like to thank the players, parents and my assistant coaches for their outstanding contributions.”
Tanner Webb led the scoring with 13.6 points per game. Kyle Huppe averaged 12.5 points; Zach Hickman, 8.2; C.J. Hall, 5.8; Trae Wrench, 4.5; Matt Plank, 3.8; Ben Carpenter, 2.9; Dilon Dodson, 2.8; and Chip Kueffer, 1.3.
GEHS will lose Webb, Hall, Hickman, Kueffer, and Caleb Clark – all seniors – but return a talented group next season.
