Blazers compete in AA state tourney

The Gardner Blazers 14 and under baseball team turned in a top performance in the AA state tournament at the Mid America Sports complex in Shawnee last weekend.
First round action saw the Blazers beat the Red Ravens of Atchison 12-8. In the second game, the Blazers dropped a 9-1 decision to the Olathe Blues. The tourney finale found the Blazers losing a hard fought 11-4 decision to the Salina Rangers.
“Overall, I was real pleased with our performance,” said Coach Steve Scott. “The kids worked hard all week in practice and showed a lot of improvement.”
Top pitching performances came from Zach Rempel, Carter Beil, Jesse May, Nolan Quiring and Zach Biddison. Turning in top defensive efforts were Isaac Perkins, Rempel and Beil.
Playing for the Blazers were Carter Beil, Zach Biddison, Jesse May, Jackson McClain, Isaac Perkins, Zach Rempel, Brady Scott, Nolan Quiring, Tim Wood and Jake Voge.
Assisting Scott were Greg Rempel and Tim Wood,Sr.
