Blazer Wrestlers 2nd at JV league tourney

Behind four gold medal efforts, the Gardner Edgerton High School JV wrestlers wrapped up the season with a second place finish in the Eastern Kansas League tournament last week.
Overall, GEHS posted a 24-16 record and placed seven wrestlers. The Blazers took runner-up honors to Blue Valley Northwest.
David Collins, 106 pounds; Matt Klaurens, 113 pounds; Randy Fruit, 182 pounds; and Justin Sikes, 220 pounds, brought home gold medals.
Silver medals went to Kyle Cunningham, 138 pounds; and Edrick Rouse, 285 pounds. Jake Weekly, 195 pounds, placed third.
Others competing but not placing, include: James Edwards, 120 pounds; Jeremy Morton, 126 pounds; Austin Furnas, 145 pounds; Austin Kost, 152 pounds; Tristen Martin, 160 pounds; and Daniel Yount, 170 pounds.
“As the season closes, I am extremely proud of this fine group of young men,” said Coach Matt Yeamans. “They enjoyed success that comes from hard work and represented our school in a positive light everywhere we competed.”
