Blazer soccer squad loses twice

Despite making marked improvement, the Lady Blazers soccer squad lost to highly ranked Mill Valley and Blue Valley Southwest last week.
Against Mill Valley, ranked 4th in 5A, the Blazers dropped an 8-0 decision. Gardner Edgerton High School trailed 5-0 at halftime but got strong second half defensive performances from Blair Pfeifer and Lauren Grace.
Against Southwest, ranked 3rd in 5A, the Blazers trailed 2-0 at halftime thanks to top performances from Brooke Thompson, Sierra Henricks and Taylor Rayburn. Other fine individual efforts came from Savannah Hallier and Krista Long.
“Despite the scores, this was our best defensive effort of the season,” said Coach Jerad Gorney. “I was real proud of the effort.”
