Senior captain Lacey Cole’s goal with just 15 minutes left in the game lifted Gardner Edgerton High School to a 3-1 win at KC Christian, April 12.
“I’m extremely proud of our team,” said Coach Jerad Gorney. “They have battled through injuries and some adversity early in the season.”
Freshman Rachel Bovitz got things going with a goal midway through the first half to put GEHS up 1-0.
KCC tied the game 1-1 with a corner kick to start the second half. Back came the ‘Blazers with junior Molly Porter’s goal just outside the box.
That set the stage for Cole’s late goal, as GEHS took the two-point win.
Action continues at Ottawa April 19 and Piper April 21.
