In a see saw East Kansas league battle, the Blazer freshmen football squad posted a 42-34 win at Blue Valley Northwest Sept. 11.
GEHS, 2-0, jumped to a 22-14 halftime lead and held on for the eight point win. Northwest made a game of it with 14 third quarter points bell fell short.
Offensively, Hunter Skeens led the way scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 149 yards on 15 carries. Jonas Pippitt added 52 yards on seven totes and a touchdown. Connor Boyt gained 10 yards and scored a touchdown and quarterback Griffin Johns raced for 70 yards on seven carries.
Through the air, Johns completed 11 of 19 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite target was Zach Bass who hauled in two catches for 62 yards and a touchdown. Boyt grabbed two catches for 36 yards and Jared Highfill caught two passes for 15 yards.
GEHS continued its season at Blue Valley Southwest Sept. 16. Results were not available at press time.
