Blazer baseball team sweeps Blue Valley

Using strong pitching and defense, the Blazer baseball team swept Blue Valley by scores of 2-1, and 6-4 last week.
At Blue Valley April 1, pitcher Brett Wolford was near perfect. He tossed a one-hitter, with nine strikeouts and Jacob Means pitched the seventh inning and earned the save.
Trailing 1-0, GEHS finally broke through in the sixth inning. Josh Mann’s hard grounder to second was misplayed by Blue Valley and GEHS posted a 2-1 lead.
“Our pitching and defense was outstanding both games,” said Coach Corey Schrack. “I was real proud of the effort.”
It was the same winning story April 4 as GEHS rolled for a 6-4 win at home vs. Blue Valley.
This time, Wally Nellor was the winning pitcher. He hurled a complete game and allowed just three earned runs.
Trailing 3-1, GEHS rallied for six runs in the sixth inning. Mann’s two-out, bases loaded double was “key” to the comeback.
Blue Valley battled back with a solo run in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to keep GEHS from the sweep.
Now 2-1, GEHS gets back to action versus Miege this week.
