The Blazers 12-under competitive baseball team will hold a tryout from 9-11 a.m. on Aug. 20 at the Gardner-Edgerton High School varsity softball field.
Players cannot turn 12 before May 1, 2012 and must be from USD 231.
Head coach Matt Yeamans will oversee the tryout and will have help in Corey Schrack, GEHS head baseball coach, Chad Maxwell, and Nick Baker.
“Our mission is to develop young men with the proper fundamentals of baseball, create a positive team environment that competes at a high level, and have fun,” said Yeamans.
The Blazers will play a 40-game schedule in one of the top fifth grade divisions of the Johnson County 3&2 baseball league. The team will also enter six 12-u AA tournaments around Kansas City through USSSA.
Last year the Blazers posted a 26-13 record, won two tourneys, and placed second in two other tourneys. The team took third place in one of the top divisions of 3&2.
