Authorities investigate death at Hillsdale Lake

Law enforcement officers are still investigating what caused the death of a Gardner man over the weekend.
Kansas Wildlife and Parks Office received a call about a missing man at Hillsdale Lake at 10:13 a.m. on Sunday, June 22.
First responders found the body of Timothy R. Jackson, 57, near the shoreline on the west side of Hillsdale Lake on June 22. Jackson’s body was found in approximately 3-feet of water. He was wearing a life jacket and investigators also recovered Jackson’s jet-ski near the scene.
According to a press release from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson was last seen by a friend in the evening of June 21. The friend reported to investigators that the pair had been jet skiing together until about 5:30 p.m. on June 21. The friend decided to head home, but Jackson wanted to stay out later. The friend told police he last saw Jackson on his Jet Ski SX-R 800 at Jayhawker Marina.
Units from the Kansas Wildlife and Parks, Hillsdale Lake Corp of Engineers, South Johnson County Fire Department Water Rescue, Miami County Emergency Medical Services, and Miami County Sheriff’s Office responded to the missing person call on June 22.The cause of death is still under investigation at this time.
