Irene Roesha DeMiyt

Irene Roesha DeMiyt, age 63 of Gardner, passed away November 24, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center. Irene was cremated and a memorial service will be held at 10AM, Saturday, December 16th, 2017 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. A memorial gathering of friends and family will also take place, Sunday, December 17th, 3 PM, at the Gardner American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Irene DeMiyt Memorial Fund or another organization of your choice, in care of Wilson’s Funeral Home, PO Box 486, Wellsville, Kansas 66092. Irene Roesha DeMiyt was born April 15, 1954 in Garnett, Kansas the daughter of Glenn Edward and Anna Marie (Cruey) Head. She attended and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1972. On October 1, 1988, Irene married Daniel Paul DeMiyt in Stilwell, Kansas. They were married 32 years before her passing. He survives at the home in Gardner. Irene worked for King Radio and later Honeywell for 45 years doing repair and overhaul. She enjoyed reading, shopping, being at the lake, spending time with her family and was also very excited to be a grandma! Irene is survived by her husband of the home, Daniel Paul DeMiyt; and her children, Daniel Thorton DeMiyt and Ashley Roesha DeMiyt . Opal Ellen Chambers

Opal Ellen Chambers, 85, of Glendale, Ariz, formerly of Gardner, Kan, passed away Dec. 8, 2017 at Rejoice Assisted Living, Glendale, Ariz. Ellen was born Sept. 23, 1932 in Neodesha, Kan to Daniel Obediah and Hazel Mae (Coe) Redington. She grew up in Neodesha where she graduated from high school in 1952. Ellen earned a BS in Nursing from Mt. Carmel Academy, Wichita, Kan. Ellen married Russell Chambers on Aug. 3, 1957 in Neodesha. They lived in Caney, Kan and moved to Gardner in 1963 where Russell served as high school principal and Ellen served as a nurse at Gardner Community Medical Center. They moved to Glendale, Ariz in 1995. Ellen was a registered nurse who worked in hospitals and for the Magellan Corp. as a nursing instructor while in Arizona. She was a member of Gardner Baptist Church. Ellen was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, creative crafts and traveling all around the world. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell, in 1996 brother, Lester Redington and sister, Irene Lindsey. Carole Stockmyer Peterson, 71, of Kincaid, Kan, passed away Dec. 10, 2017. Carole was born March 24, 1946 in Gardner, Kan to Robert Kirkland and Geraldine (Heien) Stockmyer. She grew up in Gardner where she graduated from Gardner High School in 1965. Carole married James W. Peterson on Jan. 29, 1994 in Osawatomie, Kan. She and Jim lived many places and moved to Kincaid, Kan one and one-half years ago. Carole had worked as a cashier at TrueValue Hardware and K-Mart in Olathe, Kan and most recently as a cook at Newman’s Grocery in Warsaw, Mo. She was a professional gardener and an avid animal lover. She had many pets which included her special dog, Antoinette, her chickens, other dogs and ducks. Carole liked to fish, especially at her home and at Lake of the Ozarks. Cindy LeeAnn Richards On November 30, 2017 a bright light was extinguished suddenly and entirely too soon, leaving a dark void in the lives of her family and friends. Cindy gave the biggest, and best bear hugs in the world. Her bright smile and infectious laughter will be with us always. Cindy worked as a Vet Tech for Mariposa Veterinary Wellness Center. Her love and compassion for animals showed in everything she did. Cindy loved to skydive, and loved the many friendships she made there, as well as her special friendships at Mariposa. Pearlene was born June 4, 1931 in Booneville, Ark to Noah Edward and Verna Camillia (Godfrey) Wooldridge. She grew up in Arkansas where she graduated from Booneville High School. During the war Pearlene followed her brother to Ft. Riley where she worked in the PX. After marriage she moved to Olathe. Pearlene was a homemaker and worked in Dillons Bakery in Olathe for 25 years. Dale Ellis Young, 54, of Gardner, Kan passed away October 30, 2017. Dale was born March 7, 1963 in Harrisburg, Pa. to Donald Duane Young, and Judy Jeanette (Kindred) Young. Dale grew up in Gardner, graduating from Gardner Edgerton High School in 1981. He served in the US Marine Corps Reserves for 6 years. Dale was a collision repair technician at Don’s Body Shop in Olathe, Kan. He loved to boat on local lakes and enjoyed water skiing. He collected music, videos and enjoyed computers. He also loved going to NASCAR races. Dale will be missed dearly by family and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Dawn Young Schulz and grandson, Gavin. NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE INDUSTRIAL REVENUE BONDS Public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Edgerton, Kansas (the “City”) will consider adopting a resolution expressing its intent to issue its industrial revenue bonds in an approximate amount of $1,000,000 (the “Bonds”). The resolution will be considered at the City Council meeting to be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at the Edgerton Community Building, 404 E. Nelson Street, Edgerton, Kansas. The Bonds are proposed to be issued under authority of K.S.A. 12 1740 et seq., as amended, to provide funds for acquiring, constructing and equipping an approximately 7,500 sq. ft. retail building to be located at 106 West 3rd Street, Edgerton, Kansas (the “Project”). Notice is given in accordance with K.S.A. 12-1744e that the City intends to issue the Bonds and sublease the Project to Colby Series 17, LLC, a Kanas limited liability company, or its assigns.
