NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE INDUSTRIAL REVENUE BONDS Public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Edgerton, Kansas (the “City”) will consider adopting a resolution expressing its intent to issue its industrial revenue bonds in an approximate amount of $1,000,000 (the “Bonds”). The resolution will be considered at the City Council meeting to be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at the Edgerton Community Building, 404 E. Nelson Street, Edgerton, Kansas. The Bonds are proposed to be issued under authority of K.S.A. 12 1740 et seq., as amended, to provide funds for acquiring, constructing and equipping an approximately 7,500 sq. ft. retail building to be located at 106 West 3rd Street, Edgerton, Kansas (the “Project”). Notice is given in accordance with K.S.A. 12-1744e that the City intends to issue the Bonds and sublease the Project to Colby Series 17, LLC, a Kanas limited liability company, or its assigns. Betty L. VanGoethem

Betty L. VanGoethem, 84, of Gardner passed away October 13, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center. Betty was born November 25, 1932 in Olathe, Kan to Sherman Rosco and Anna Jane (Wentworth) Hougland. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1950. Betty married Paul VanGoethem on October 8, 1960 in Gardner. She worked as a secretary for McGee Abstract from 1950-1955 and Johnson County Title from 1955-1964, both in Olathe. Through the 1980’s-1990’s, Betty was the cafeteria manager for USD #231. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Gardner. Betty enjoyed spending time with the ladies of Friday Friends and Alter Society. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and sewing. Betty will be dearly missed by family and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill Hougland. She is survived by her husband, Paul of the home; sons: Kevin and Lesley VanGoethem of Winter Springs, Fla, Jim and Lori VanGoethem of McPherson, Kan, and Travis and Kimberly VanGoethem of Blue Springs, Mo; daughter, Margaret and Eric Klassen of Beatrice, Neb, sister-in-law, Helen Hougland, and three grandsons; Jori and Dawson VanGoethem and Mitchel Klassen. James “Jim” Scott

James “Jim” Scott 70, of Gardner, Kan passed away Oct 11th at home with his wife by his side. Jim was born May 20, 1947 to Albert and Nellie Scott. He graduated from Bonner Springs High School and eventually moved to the Gardner area in the 1980’s. He was married to Carrie (Criman) Scott on Dec. 7, 1985. Jim was a Army veteran. He worked as a mechanic most of his life. His last job was with KDOT in Olathe. He was a life member of the NRA and loved hunting, target shooting and gun shows. He enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his Jeep and watching the Packers play football. Jim is survived by his wife Carrie. Delores (Dee) Huggins, 73, of Gardner, Kan passed away Sept. 14, 2017 at Olathe Hospice House. M Dee was born on May 15, 1944 in Bath County, Ky to Everett Clay Richard and Goldy Haven. Dee grew up in Ky, lived in Ohio and moved to Kansas City, Missouri and then California, where she lived for a short time, returning to Olathe. She married Kenneth “Ken” Allen Huggins on August 8, 1989 in Tennessee. Dee graduated from Madison High School, Middletown, Ohio. She attended Cosmetology School in both Kansas City and California. She was the owner of the Excellence I Salon in Olathe for 19 years. When she retired, she joined her husband as co-owner of Cars, Trucks & Etc. (formerly Excellence I). Dee worked for many years in cosmetology. She loved quilting, sewing and was a very talented artist. She was a perfectionist and could do anything. She will be missed by family and friends. Joseph George Demand

Joseph George Demand, 68, of Gardner, Kan passed away on September 20th 2017 in Kansas City, Mo. Joe was born in The Bronx, N.Y.to Charlotte Saltzman and Joseph Francis Demand on August 3rd, 1949. He spent most of his youth in Rockaway, N.J. where he attended St. Cecilia Elementary and Morris Hills High School. Throughout childhood Joe enjoyed freshwater fishing, coin collecting & tinkering with his motorcycles. He moved to Salina, Kan in 1967 where he attended and graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1971. There he met and married Vicki (Miller) Stedman (former spouse) in 1971 and had one son, Jason, in 1972. During his life he worked many jobs but specialized in inventory at JC Penney until his retirement. Joe moved back to Kansas to the city of Gardner in 2014 where he became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Divine Mercy Parish. His hobbies included riding his bike to the local coffee shop, keeping his truck in impeccable condition, watching the New York Yankees, enjoying sporting & school events for his granddaughters with his son and fishing whenever he got the chance. Frances Marie Cramer

Frances Marie Cramer, 95, of Gardner, Kan passed away Sept. 14, 2017. Frances was born Sept. 20, 1921 in KCMO to Leo J. and Irene L. (Wilson) McCormick. She grew up in Kansas City, Mo where she graduated from St. Agnes High School. Francis attended one year at KCMO Jr. College. She married John “Jack” Francis Cramer on Aug. 6, 1942 in San Antonio, Tex. After the war they moved to Gardner in 1946. Frances was a homemaker, a dance teacher with a studio in her garage in the 1950’s and a 4-H and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed quilting and made her last quilt for her great-granddaughter, Frances. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, the Divine Mercy Altar Society and Highland EHU. Frances will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack in 2004 and brothers: Cpt. James McCormick and Judge Lee McCormick. The City of Edgerton, KS is recruiting for the following position: School Crossing Guard The School Crossing Guard will be to stop and hold traffic while children attending Edgerton Elementary are crossing Nelson Street within the designated crosswalk before and after school. This is a part-time position under the direct supervision of the Assistant City Administrator. Our ideal candidate is punctual and able to work with minimum supervision. They enjoy working with children. The ideal candidate also is able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
