QUESTION: What is an IEP and how many students in the Gardner Edgerton School District have one?

ANSWER: An IEP is an Individualized Education Program. By law, the individualized plan is designed to ensure a quality education for a child with a disability. Each plan is uniquely developed by a team including a student’s parents, regular and special education teachers and administrators. For federal funding, school districts must provide a count of the number of students with IEPs on Dec. 1. This year, USD 231 counted 886.
