QUESTION: Why have flags all over Kansas been flying at half-staff?

ANSWER: Flags nationwide flew at half-staff on Oct. 16 in honor of former Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter. Sen. Specter was born in Kansas, and served in the U.S. Senate for 30 years. He died at the age of 82 on Oct. 14.
Last week, flags in Kansas flew at half-staff starting on Oct. 8 in honor of the Kansas Court of Appeals Chief Judge Richard D. Greene. Greene died on Oct. 8, and flags remained at half-staff until sundown on the day of his internment.
