All-day kindergarten fees to increase at USD 231

Fees for all-day kindergarten and peer model fees will increase for Gardner Edgerton School District parents next year.
The cost of all-day kindergarten, for which the state does not provide funding, will increase $5 per week to $70. Annually, the fee will be $2,450 up from $2,275 the previous year.
With the increase, the GE district fees for the service remain similar to those of its neighbors. For example, the Olathe School District charges $2,475 annually for all-day kindergarten; Blue Valley School District charges $2,610; Spring Hill charges $2,275; the De Soto and Shawnee Mission School Districts both charge $2,700 for the service.
USD 231 officials said the increased fees are necessary to off-set the cost of the program due to flat state aid funding. The increase will generate approximately $22,000 for the district.
