The program is open to students with Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and its goal is to assist those students in maintaing their current skill sets during sumer break.
According to a memo Martin wrote for board members, most of the students are included in general education classes with their peers, but a few specialized programs operate more independently.
Forty high school students are taking credit recovery classes.
Summer school programs are conducted at Wheatridge Middle School, at Gardner Edgerton High School and at Madison Elementary School. The majority of the students are taking advantage of a free breakfast and lunch summer food program, Smith reported.
