‘Blazers lose twice to STA

A pair of losses to St. Thomas Aquinas last week dropped the ‘Blazer baseball team record to 2-5.
At Aquinas April 12, GEHS fell behind 10-4 after four innings and lost a 13-9 decision.
STA jumped to a 4-0 first-inning lead. Back came the ‘Blazers with a first inning run thanks to an RBI hit by Zach Pruitt.
STA took control with a run in the second and five more in the third inning.
GEHS rallied for three runs in the fourth on back-to-back doubles from Trevor Martin and John Means.
Trailing 13-4 in the seventh, GEHS went to work. After Austin Goldsmith singled, Alex Winkler reached on an error. Ryan Goetzmann and Caleb Clarke walked and Martin stroked a 1-0 pitch for a grand slam pulling GEHS within 13-9. However, a ground out ended the game.
At GEHS April 14, the Saints recorded a 16-4 win.
The ‘Blazers got back to action April 18 at Blue Valley North. A doubleheader at Ottawa took place April 19.
