‘Blazer 9U team wins area baseball tournament

The Gardner ‘Blazer 9U baseball team finished its summer season by winning the Olathe Youth Baseball League tournament.

After losing the first game of a double-elimination tourney, they battled back through the loser’s bracket winning the next five games to earn the title of “Tournament Champions.” Their bats carried them through as the squad out-scored opponents 64-30.

“It was an exciting way to end the season,” Coach Bill O’Connor said. “The boys were playing the best they had all summer during the tournament which was great to see!”

The coaches want to also thank the call up players who helped due to injuries and vacations.
